We celebrated our anniversary this week. We had decided to keep it simple and go out to eat later in the week (mostly because it was so hot later in the week!) We also got hit with a huge auto maintenance bill.. so that helped us decide on to keep our anniversary celebrations small. :/ We weren't complaining.. (out loud.. too much) and I was trying to have the best attitude in seeing the glass half full, not empty. We could pay the auto bill.. etc. but not have anything extra..

Ray works what's called a crazy 9 schedule and has every other Friday off. He had take Thursday off, too. He came home Wednesday night with some important news to tell me. One of his co workers heard that we weren't doing anything and decided that we should, so she wouldn't take no for an answer and bought a hotel night for us at Ocean Shores!!! How amazing is that! It's so great that people are still so nice. There is good everywhere still!
We had a great time going to the beach! It was a cool 64 degrees and it felt wonderful after the high 90s in town!


We drove around town a little bit exploring and saw deer everywhere! There were lots of babies, too! Where we saw these deer, there were 3 or 4 more across the street and another little family beside them!


We had fun doing FaceTime with Hazel and Melissa with the beach in he background!

And I found these in one of those fun little beach shops!! I may have to go back and buy them for a white elephant gift. Lol!

Our lesson in Sunday school was really good today. We are studying church history. We were talking about when the saints were building the Navuoo temple and when they were starting to take out their endowments and happy and excited they were. Also how happy our ancestors are in getting their work done. The comparison was made of how sometimes we (me, too) complain about how much traffic there is and how long it takes to get to our temple and then our ancestors have been waiting for a couple hundred years.. I think I can do an extra hour. I'm grateful for the temple and that families can be forever! I'm happy that Ray and I got married and sealed in the temple 25 years ago!

What a week! I'm exhausted. But in that content happy exhausted way.
The Olivers made a quick surprise trip to Wa and I got to see my good friend Les and have our Faliveroops reunite. (Falter, Oliver, shoop families)

Then Tuesday Keagan and I drove to Utah to pick up Hazel. We came back Thursday with her and met Ray in Portland. He rode the train down and spent the night so we could go to Daneah's wedding Friday.


And Saturday this handsome kid turned 18!!


Today keagan and I went to zabde s farewell for his mission. Those of you who know him, know how awesome he is. He is amazing and his talk felt like a homecoming talk, not a farewell.

Hazel has been so good and we're so happy to have her with us all by herself for the next few days. She keeps me busy!
I'm exhausted right now. So, I'm making this quick.

Once again, I love summer! Here is the PNW, it has been beautiful! In the mid to upper 70s.. maybe 80 and sunshine!
I love Fourth of July! Besides the meaning of it.. I love the festivities! We have been going to Tumwater for the last few years. Darri and I were trying to calculate and we think 11 years.. with occasionally missing a year here or there when we go on vacation, but usually I plan around it because I love it so much. We try to gather as many friends around as we can and sit on the grassy area and visit and people watch until the fireworks start. We like to get there early, so there's plenty of time to visit. There is sky divers, music, lots of people (they said they estimated 12,000 this year) and of course fireworks!



There is this overlook park in Tumwater that I recently discovered. It's beautiful up there, on a clear day you can see the Olympics, the Bay, the Capitol, and Mt. Rainier. We needed to do something on the west side and he sun was going down, so we rushed over there to see this! Of course, pictures don't do it justice!

Yesterday, we went to Riffe Lake in Mossyrock. It's off of highway 12, just past Chehalis. If you continue on Highway 12, you end up in eastern WA in Yakima.
I'd never been there before and it was beautiful, sunny and 78 degrees.


And of course a Hazel pic! This week, Keagan and I are making a quick trip to Utah, we're leaving Tuesday morning, driving all day and coming back Thursday with Hazel!!! We're so excited.... and a smidge nervous about how worn out we'll be..
Melissa and Chaz will come the next week to visit and pick her up! Lucky us!

If anyone wants to drive with me home to wa on Thursday, let me know. I don't know how you'd get back..


So next week.. overload of Hazel! and Daneah is getting married!!!

Ps. Keagan turns in his eagle project tomorrow! He's getting his final signatures! And Saturday he turns 18!!!! Holy cow! I'm so glad I started him a year late in school so he's around one more year. And then the letters will be to him!!!

Sorry I forgot to write last week. We stayed out at my moms too late. That's where we're at right now, too. They have air conditioning. And it's in the 90s for the second day in a row. Yuck!

I'm glad this past week is over for many reasons. School is finally out! Finally!! I got to work all last week at 7 oaks.. it was a blessing, but also a little crazy. The groups that my person was over were done.. so I was trying to find things to do most of the week. When you don't normally work there..it's really a pain to clean up and be ready for the next year.
Keagan worked on his Eagle project yesterday. He went over to the Warnings and they put together 4 picnic tables for the Nisqually property.


Tomorrow they need to go stain them. Then he just needs to do his paperwork. He also leaves Tuesday for camp Helaman.

And my friend Darri Guinto comes to visit this week!! So excited! And. My friend Angela Redding.

And of course some cute Hazel pics! She got to enjoy a chocolate chip cookie. She was loving it and was sad when it was done. I don't blame her!

This last week and the next two, we have a lot going on. Keagan has several end of the year projects to do. And he is working on trying to finish up his eagle. He wasn't going to at first. He is so close! Just a half merit badge away and his eagle project. But, as you can see from lately, this cute girl that he likes, batted her eyes at him and said... Keeaagggaaannn... you really should get your eagle. Hahaha. Where was she last year?! So, now that a pretty girl has encouraged him, he is busy trying to get it done before he turns 18 on July 15. Let's hope and pray that he does. He got his eagle project approved, so now he is getting people together for donations. He is having people make 4 picnic benches for the Nisqually property.
We still have 2 weeks of school left. It seems like so many other people are out of school already. School goes so long for us this year with a couple of snow day make ups and the day from our really bad wind storm. My preschool graduation and last day is Thursday. Yah! And the Wednesday, Friday, and all of the next week I'm working for some lady at 7 Oaks who is having surgery. Her shift is 7:30-3:30. I'm super grateful for having that many hours, but also can't wait for summer break.
Ray is in Pennsylvania this weekend. He left Thursday and will be back Tuesday. He is visiting his mom, aunt, and siblings. He has also got to see lots of other family and friends that he hasn't seen in many years. Some of his cousins that he got to see, I've never met and it has been 30 years since he's seen them. I'm glad he's having a great time. I'm starting to really miss him! I'll be glad when he's back Tuesday!

His youngest Brother Dan, his sis- the oldest - Theresa, him, his older brother John, his mom and Aunt.


This cute girl's mom sent me a video of her saying gamma. Melted my heart! That and her kissing the phone when we're on FaceTime.

This week Keagan got a call from one of his friends from dance last year. Someone dropped out and could her perform on Saturday.. it was Tuesday. So, he spent most of time practicing for that and having a little bit of a panic/anxiety attack from everything on his plate. The dances turned out well and he eventually had a good time.


It didn't hurt that Mikaela (the girl he likes) "got" to be his partner in the 2nd dance.

I'll send you off with our beautiful mountain! It's so beautiful! This time of he year is the best! Come visit! We have a spare room and love to have visitors!

It has been a gorgeous and sunny week! Even hot! We have been enjoying the sunshine!
Last night we went to my moms to visit and ended up staying late because of the holiday weekend we could sleep in today! We went to their community beach. I love the beach and the sound of the water. It's so pretty and peaceful there.



Thursday, I got a text from Daneah asking if we had plans on Saturday. We didn't have anything definitive, luckily.. she had just found out that Kaleb, her fiancé, was coming home for the weekend (he's in the marines- just finished basic training) and wanted to take out his endowment. He is a convert to the church. And Daneah's parents were out of town. Could Brother Shoop be his escort? Ray was so honored! It was great for me to finally meet him. Such a great privilege to go with them to the temple. And to just be around a sweet young happy couple!
They are probably getting married sometime in mid to late July. They don't know the exact date yet because they don't know when his leave is, they just know approximately when it is. Crazy, huh?! But so Daneah!

As you can tell, it was a beautiful sunny day. I had a hard time seeing, it was so bright. The pictures were hard to see, too. But, it was gorgeous out!!
I love to see the temple!

Today Keagan came with me and Sis. Shirley Wright to Yelm for a ward conference. Sis. Wright is the best! She used to go by sis Carrol. I copied her picture from Facebook. 

 

She's 85 years old and is the stake primary secretary. I just love her and love visiting with her. It is so fun to ride out to Yelm with her! She also has 2 sisters that live close. They go out to lunch every Friday. How fun is that! She said the youngest sister is 79, she can't wait to turn 80 like her sisters. Lol. 

Keagan came with us because he had so many friends out in Yelm and could have 10 minutes to say hi to Mikaela.. the girl he likes. I think he has it pretty bad. Haha. 

I love ward conferences.  This year President Esquibel has been talking about small and simple things. He tells a story of going to his parents house for Christmas and finding a journal of his grandmas. It opened up to the date when his grandpa passed away. His grandma wrote about the blessings of families and being together forever. He says how much it touched him to read her testimony all theses years later. He shared it with his family in which 3 of his sisters are not active and how it touched them. He talked about the small and simple things his grandma did to live the gospel. 

Reading scriptures and prayer are some of those small and simple things. He also shared President Monson's words from conference. His talk was only 4 minutes long and he talked about how important the Book of Mormon is. If the prophet only talks for 4 minutes and talks about that, it must be pretty important! 

President Monsons last paragraph of his talk,

My dear associates in the work of the Lord, I implore each of us to prayerfully study and ponder the Book of Mormon each day. As we do so, we will be in a position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear, and to receive heaven’s help in our lives. I so testify with all my heart in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I know I want those promises!

Also, my favorite words are mom, hon, dear, and now gamma (Hazel said it his week and of course it melted my heart!!!). The first time was gam mamama. With a little bit of and sound at the beginning.

Another one of my favorite things said to me is Mama Shoop! That melts my heart, too! This Elder is one of the last that has said it to me, we haven't been as good lately getting to know them, but this Elder had just been transferred to Yelm and saw Keagan and asked why he was there. He found out I was there and came and found me. I heard, mama Shoop! It was the best. I can't wait to give him a hug in a few months when he goes home to Utah.
